When I was in high school, you’d routinely see me in jeans, a hooded sweatshirt, and flip flops…when it’s humid and 90 degrees. I’ve even been known to attend cheerleading practice in pants and a sleeveless turtleneck under my shirt. As an adult, I have a space heater pointed at me all day in my home office – on full blast. Let’s face it, as someone with Reynaud’s and several autonomic disorders, it’s a way of life for me! Lucky for you, this makes me an expert in keeping toasty.
Here are some life hacks if you’re always freaking freezing:
- Get one of those old timey hot water packs to put in bed with you. Fun fact: back when my dad was young (he was born in 1939!), they’d put plates in the oven and stick them between the comforters!

- Rotate your fan ceiling so it runs clockwise on low. Towards the base of the fan, there’s a little switch to flip if it isn’t running clockwise. The updraft pushes warm air, which naturally rises to the ceiling, down along the walls and back the floor.

- Layer, like crazy.

Leggings, a shirt, and a sweater! Stylish, comfy, and classy. Right now, Kohl’s has 30% off women’s warmwear! That’s where I got these Cuddl Duds clothes, which are perfect for layering. This sweater? Ridiculously soft and warm. And look – it has little holes for your thumbs! Perfect for wearing under a coat without having the sleezes all bunched up underneath!
