12 Natural Ways to Start Labor

Let’s face it–baby will come when baby wants to come! Sometimes though, we’d like to give them a gentle nudge. Babies born between 39 weeks and 40 weeks, six days have the best health outcomes, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said in a statement that changed the definition of “full term.”

That being said, please don’t try these until you’re 39 weeks pregnant!

  • Acupuncture (which is also said to help lower c-sections!)

  • Acupressure

  • Sex, because sperm contains prostaglandins which stimulate the cervix

  • Evening primrose oil

  • Walking, climbing stairs (the idea is not to be exhausted, which doesn’t make for a fun time in labor!)

  • Nipple stimulation

  • Massage

  • Pineapple, Eggplant, Spicy Food

  • Bouncing on a birthing ball

  • Chiropractic adjustment

  • Red raspberry leaf tea
